Jeb Dunnuck: "A youthful, unevolved 2018 with lots of up-front blue and black fruits as well as cedary herbs, violets, and scorched earth, the 2018 Château Gloria is medium to full-bodied and has a beautifully balanced, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and both richness and freshness. The purity of fruit is spot on. It's another brilliant wine from this estate that readers will love. It's going to benefit from 2-4 years in the cellar and cruise for two decades in cold cellars. Winery: "Once the grapes have been picked by hand, the harvest is vinified in the traditional way in heat-regulated stainless steel vats, in order to produce truly exceptional wines which can be laid down for a long time. The wine then spends 14 months being aged in casks, with an average of 40% of them being replaced every year."
Trade Notes: "Following a rainy winter and spring, the beautiful climatic conditions of summer, and the great alternation of warm days and cool nights in September allowed the fruit to ripen fully. At Chateau Gloria, the grape harvest started with the Merlot and ended on October 1st with the Cabernet. The first juices revealed intense colors, very expressive fruit aromas and an exceptional maturity. These wines are balanced, with a beautiful structure. Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (5%), the Chateau Gloria 2018 is already revealing signs of being a great Saint-Julien from an exceptional vintage."
