"The straight up fabulous 2015 Tavel Les Lauzeraies is a layered, medium-bodied, beautifully textured..." ~ Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine AdvocateFrom the Southern Rhône, and with slightly more chops than its Provencal cousins, this Les Lauzeraies Tavel Rosé is one of our go-to favorites. Pour a beautiful reddish pink glass and savor it alone as a refreshing aperitif, or with a platter of grilled chicken satay skewers and peanut sauce that has some kick. The main course possibilities are numerous, as this Tavel Rose works well with lighter fare such as poultry and seafood, as well as spicy Asian dishes, grilled pork, veal and much more. We love the perky finish and delicious fruit of this wine with a grilled pork tenderloin next to an apicot/ginger chutney. A heaping bowl of chicken and shellfish paella will delight next to this Les Lauzeraies as well. And, its fuller body could cause rapturous delight with a generous serving of grilled shrimp slathered in anchovy butter. Refill the glasses again and enjoy them with a French Cabecou de Poitou cheese. It will bring out the minerality of this Tavel treasure and wrap up your meal with a flourish. Très bien fait indeed, winelovers!"
Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The straight up fabulous 2015 Tavel Les Lauzeraies is a layered, medium-bodied, beautifully textured Tavel that offers lots of flowers, lavender, spice and both cherry and raspberry fruit. Showing a touch of saltiness on the finish, drink this beauty with food over the coming year or so." May 2016
The Tavel Appelation: "Rosés from the Southern Rhône offer a marked contrast to their cousins from Provence. Typically deeper in color and fuller in body, Rhône rosés, led by the Tavel appellation, offer the stuffing to match with grilled summer fare while still keeping a refreshing personality."~James Molesworth (Wine Spectator) Winery: "Eye : bright rosé wine - ruby red colour with topaz tints. Aromas : mineral - red fruits (raspberry and cherry). Mouth : powerful – flinty – long spicy finish."
red-hued colour. There is a compote of red fruits opening on the nose, a mild sweetness at its heart. The palate drinks easily now, with a soft centre and finale. The red berry fruit is supple. Not a notably full wine, but has its little local authenticity. Fish, soft cheese, brandade good with this. 14°. 50% Gren, 20% Cins, 7% Picpul & Bourb, 6% Clair, 17% Syrah, Mourv, old Carignan.
Trade Notes: "We love it for how the material is obviously ripe and juicy yet the mouthfeel remains on the dry side, credit due to the above average level of acidity present. Well layered strawberry, rhubarb, raspberry, red cherry fruit of good density, full persistence through the finish. Good purity for its ripeness, never feels like it is trying too hard."
