"Wild herb, underbrush, cherry and smoke notes weave throughout..." ~ Wine SpectatorEstimated Ship Date 3/1
Fattoria dei Barbi was founded in 1790. It's been crafting wines ever since, and producing Brunellos since 1892. It is one of the first producers of Brunello. Ever. And, it is currently owned and managed by the 20th century heir of the Colombino family, Stefano Cinelli Colombino. In other words, they've honed their craft. You'll want to try this just-rated Fattoria dei Barbi Brunello di Montalcino 2012. For a good Brunello, you can't beat this price. It needs a little more time in the bottle, so find a spot on your top shelf, and use the time to plan a delicious meal. This beautiful Barbi is well-structured, with earthy notes to spare: smoke, wild herbs, sandalwood... They combine with dark fruit, a fresh, lively persona and just the right amount of acidity to present a beautifully balanced red which is made for meats. Beef, lamb, veal and game. Channel your inner Tuscan and offer up a first course of porcini risotto. The mushrooms couldn't be a better pairing with the likes of this Barbi. Roast a veal shoulder with salt, pepper and rosemary and your diners will be thrilled. If you've got some time on your hands, make it roast squab with truffles instead. Want to fill the house with tantalizing aromas all afternoon? We recommend a wild boar stew then. You'll need another bottle or two for your last course. Aged parmesan and maybe some Moroccan dried apricots on the side... Che suona abbastanza buona per noi!
Wine Spectator: "You can almost smell the countryside in this expressive red. Wild herb, underbrush, cherry and smoke notes weave throughout this supple red. Firms up on the finish while remaining fresh and resonant. Best from 2020 through 2035." Feb 22, 2017 Advance
Winery: "Colour: ruby red with garnet nuances. Nose: red berry and cherry, light citrusy tones, candied fruits. Taste: well balanced and persistent.
