    Winery:  "A decade after our first bottling in 1997, from another epic vintage, we are proud to release our 2007 Cuvee L. The single best barrels from our finest lots fuel this rare wine. Think of Cuvee L as super-charged Lewis Reserve Cabernet.

    Like a Formula 1 race car, the 2007 Cuvee L competes on a level beyond any of our other wines. Brilliantly purple edged and opaque in the glass, swirling the wine with a blip of the accelerator lets out a roar of ripe, super-concentrated black fruits and cedary oak spices - and that's in neutral. Engage 1st then 2nd gear and this blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon with 4% Cabernet Franc octane boost is a plusher drive than you'd expect. The fruit is so dense; it's almost like crème de cassis, with cocoa, currant and black truffle. Hit 3rd gear and things suddenly get serious with run-away speed and overwhelming power that is perfectly matched with huge rotors and calipers in the form of thick, fine-grained tannins that provide ample braking and grip through the twisties."

    Wired For Wine:  Buckle up winelovers, this Lewis Cellars Napa Valley Cuvee L Cabernet is going to make for an unforgettable ride... It's the 11th vintage of this Napa red, and the results couldn't be more skilled. It is ready to drink now, or you can wait another 12 or 13 years.  We dare you to wait.  If you can't, you will probably swoon as you luxuriate in your first glass.  If you must have food, make it a rabbit pate studded with roasted pistachios and green olives. Now that you're firmly in your seats, with your tight leather driving gloves on, you will have to decide on a main course.  The super-concentrated dark fruit, notes of cedar, tobacco and spice as well as the perfect kiss of minerals approach the gorgeous, chewy tannins on the finish and make this rich, powerful wine ideal with hearty, meaty fare.  Our favorite wow factor choice with this California red is Cabernet-braised short ribs over gorgonzola polenta. A stunning combination if we've ever seen one. Grilled beef tenderloin with rosemary, garlic and mustard is easier, but just as delicious.  The grilling really brings out those terrific tannins.  A classic choice is Provencal racks of lamb next to oven-roasted tomatoes and baby potatoes. That ought to bring your speedometer into the red range... Take a moment to decelerate, and then refill your glasses to go with an American Pawlett cheese. It's buttery-flavored, savory, and has a pleasant bite. Are your engines purring yet?
