Lovingly crafted, and a beautiful representation of the Gap's Crown hillside terroir, this California Pinot is a must-have addition to you dinner table or cellar. We predict that you will be utterly captivated. Think lots of courses, winelovers... The earthy undertone of smoke in this California Pinot will be killer with crostini of mushrooms, prosciutto and blue cheese. As for the entree, well, how much time do you have? On the lighter side, chicken, salmon and pork loin are great options. This Pinot can easily handle the heartier fare, so bring on the beef, lamb and game if you so desire. This Sonoma red will pair perfectly with lamb tortellini and an olive oil-based sauce with sage and plum tomatoes. This Walt is also made to drink with a grilled steak-cue the chewy tannins... We love it with a juicy porterhouse because it has some fat to char, and thus dance a tango with the rich red fruit and floral nuances in this ravishing red. To make it love the wine even more, dress the steak with a zesty black pepper sauce. Fantastic. The warm spice notes in this Pinot will shine with grilled salmon drizzled with your favorite Asian-style sweet-salty glaze. Open one last bottle and revel in it with a sharp Shelburne Two-Year Cheddar from Vermont. Not too shabby at all, winelovers. Cheers!
Winery: "Deep ruby red in color, the wine has boundless aromas of currant, Chinese 5-spice and sassafras. The palate is extracted, weighty and lush, with a concentrated muscular finish. Expect flavors of cocoa and acai with a slight smoky note and a chewy tannin finish.
The WALT wines honor Kathryn Hall’s parents, Bob and Delores Walt, whose dedication to viticulture, farming, and the bounty of the earth remain the inspiration for our winemaking efforts. Our vineyard partners are located in some of the most prestigious locations in the Anderson Valley, Sonoma County, the Central Coast, and the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
The picturesque Gap’s Crown vineyard is perched on a hillside. The site is in the direct path of the Petaluma Gap, characterized by coastal fog and the cool, steady winds from the Pacific Ocean. This vineyard’s reputation has quickly ascended as one of the best in the Sonoma Coast appellation. Vineyard Manager, Mike Cybulski, and his dedicated team practice vine-by-vine farming to optimize the vine and fruit development throughout the growing season.
More than all other WALT Pinot Noirs, our Gap’s Crown is the most exuberant and muscular, a vibrant manifestation of the vineyard site. The WALT Gap’s Crown glows with a deep purple hue and its lavish blueberry and blackberry aromas jump from the glass. On the palate, the wine is dense with raspberry, chocolate, violets and brown spice. Truly an extroverted display of varietal character, expect the WALT 'Gap’s Crown' Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir to remain unctuous for many years to come."
