Winery:  "This wine opens with sweet, ripe and forward high-toned notes of red and black fruits and barrel spices. The warm, soft mouth feel unfolds around flavors of strawberries, red and black currants, blackberries and cherries; all wrapped in well-integrated ripe and rich tannins. A touch of light toast envelopes secondary flavors of spicy oak with fresh, mouth-watering acidity. The finish is supple, vivid and long on the palate. The Grande Assemblage Cuvee Pinot Noir flaunts good aging potential and will reach its peak drink-ability from 2010-2012."

Wired For Wine:  This supple and complex Oregon Pinot has great range, able to enhance meals of many different characters.  Our favorites with the Dobbes Grande Assemblage Pinot Noir are duck and salmon, but it will work well with chicken, pork loin, Ahi tuna, veal chops, lean beef, and even lighter lamb dishes.  While you consider the possibilities, pour a luscious glass and have it with chicken liver pâté crostinis.  Now that you are off to a great start we recommend blackened salmon with salsa verde.  Another way to treat the salmon would be to give it a toasted pecan crust.  This will work beautifully with the light toast and spicy oak of this Dobbes.  If you prefer Ahi, we suggest switching the crust to toasted hazelnut.  And if you want something a little bit hardier, our choice is grilled skirt steak with curry and pommes frites.  Just when you think it couldn't get any better, fill your glass again and have a piece of earthy Amarelo da Beira Baixa, a goat and sheep cheese from Portugal, and let your cares melt away.
