Dashwood Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Wine Spectator: Rated as Outstanding - a wine of superior character and style. "Vivid, refreshing and brimming with lime-accented pear, star fruit and light vanilla flavors, lingering nicely on the expressive finish. Drink now." Wine Spectator, April, 2009.
Good Living Magazine: "Produced by Glenn Thomas at the Vavasour winery in Marlborough's Awatere Valley, this is a model example of the Kiwi style that has captured the hearts and palates of the world. No, it's much better than that. If only all Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc was this good. The colour is pale yellow with green glints and the aromas reflect properley ripe grapes, with gooseberry, cut-radish and hints of tropical fruits. The flavour is light on the palate but also very intense; fresh, crisp and clean, with great balance and drinkability. It's not overtly sweet nor does it taste dry to the point of austerity. A masterpeice of the genre. Drink now or within a couple of years." Good Living, November, 2008. Winemaker: "The 2008 Dashwood Sauvignon Blanc is a pale straw color. This classically styled wine shows lifted melon, citrus and fresh tropical notes on the nose. These flavors follow through to the richly structured palate which has a long crisp finish. Blending fruit from both the Awatere and Wairau Valley regions of Marlborough benefits the wine with aromatics being enhanced by the Wairau Valley component and a mineral note being imparted from the Awatere Valley component." Wired For Wine: This medium-bodied New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc will partner with a wide variety of foods. Try it with roast chicken, grilled pork, fish (particularly with a Meuniere sauce), or raw oysters. It will be delicious with a green salad with asparagus, tomatoes, or goat cheese.
