BV Reserve Tapestry Napa Valley Red Blend 2006
Robert Parker, Jr., Wine Advocate: Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "The 2006 Proprietary Red Wine Tapestry Reserve (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot) is the finest example of this cuvee I have ever tasted. Flowery, licorice-infused, cassis notes are followed by a layered, impressively built wine with real opulence, lots of red and black fruits, low acidity, and lush tannin. It should drink well for 15+ years." Dec 2009
Winery: "The 2006 Beaulieu Vineyard Reserve Tapestry weaves five classic Bordeaux varietals—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec—into an elegant, beautifully balanced wine. First crafted in 1990 as a complement to the Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, the Reserve Tapestry laces blueberry and Bing cherry through the rich core of blackberry and dark currant, accented by cocoa and toast. In the mouth, the ripe fruit fans out, reaching all points of the palate, and then delves into a long, persistent finish. The tapestry of aromas and flavors apparent in this wine come from handcrafted care from vine to glass. Pre-fermentation maceration, gentle punch-downs and in-barrel malolactic fermentation helped build the layers and nuances of this multidimensional wine. Winemaker Jeffrey Stambor then blended the lots into a well-integrated wine that astutely balances intensity and approachability." Wired For Wine: In the style of Meritage, the BV Reserve Tapestry masterfully weaves together five varietals to deliver a truly spectacular wine. The rich, dark fruit, coupled with gentle spice, toast accents and lush tannins enable this BV to pair beautifully with lamb, beef, duck and salmon. Pour a glass and get the meal off and running with a platter of carpaccio of beef, sprinkled with peppery arugala, shaved Pecorino and some luscious olive oil. Not a bad start... We love this blend with lamb, and suggest a braised lamb shoulder with black olives and parsnips. A lighter choice would be a warm lentil salad served with lamb sausage. Duck breast with roasted sweet potatoes and a sherry-maple endive will delight as well. If simple is on the menu for you, a grilled salmon steak will spotlight the elegance and impressive layers in this BV Reserve. Take a breath, open another bottle, and serve it with a distinctively earthy French Le Moulis cow's milk cheese. It's buttery flavor is heavenly. What's your pleasure, winelovers?
