Angeline Russian River Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Wine Enthusiast: Rated as Excellent, extremely well made and highly recommended. "This ’08 Sauvignon smacks of ripe, tangy Asian pear, gooseberry, fig, green melon, vanilla and spice flavors brightened by wonderfully crisp acidity. Just beautiful, and a nice bargain at this price." Aug 2009
Winery: "Angeline Sauvigon Blanc is made from grapes grown in the cool climate of Russian River Valley. Exceptionally balanced with rich and intense flavors. Fresh floral, honeydew melon and bright tropical aromatics lead to crisp and lively green melon flavors. This wine finishes soft and light with a lingering touch of citrus." Wired For Wine: What are you in the mood for winelovers? Think about it, because the possibilities for pairings with the Angeline are many. It stands alone very nicely as an apéritif if you need some time... The exceptionally balanced nature of this Sauvignon Blanc, combined with its rich, intense flavors make it the perfect vehicle for showing off pure, clean ingredients. Start off the meal with a dish of raw oysters. One of our favorites is the French Bélon, or their flat cousins which grow off the coast of Maine. Another beautiful start along these lines would be a smooth carrot or winter squash soup. Delicious. For an entree, a simply grilled swordfish with a medley of sautéed, mixed vegetables with some fresh herbs would be fantastic. If you're looking for a few more ingredients, and a little less simple, we suggest mango shrimp, a seafood salad, or a grilled pork tenderloin. All of these would be even better with a fresh salad on the side, tossed with your favorite vinaigrette. Don't forget the tomatoes; they're great with this Russian River Sauvignon Blanc. Make sure you have enough to enjoy one of our all-time favorite cheeses, Chabichou du Poitou. It's a heavenly, French goat cheese which is firm and complex, with a lingering, tangy finish. Have it room temperature with a fresh, crusty bread and prepare to be wowed. And they lived happily ever after...
