Santo's Wine Journal:  "This is one of the best Malbecs I have had in the last five years!  Wine is deep red in color with a dark red rim. This wine was made to age! Rich plum and black fruit on the nose with hints of chocolate and spices. It may even be a hint of the spice chai.  On the palate there is some very silk tannins but also some nice rich fruit with silk-soft tannins. I will have to secure myself a few cases. Wine can age for at least 5 years but taste great now if decanted."

Winemaker Note:  "The Spaniards as early as the 16th century followed by the Jesuits and more recently European immigrants notably Italians, were all fascinated by the beauty of the country.  The result is a combination of warmth, style, and tradition.  Situated at the foothills of the Andes and fed by the purest water from melted snow, the vineyards produce grapes of outstanding quality.  Made to enjoy, this wine with spiced red plum flavors combined with this silky texture is ideal for meat or pasta dishes."

Importer Note:  "Pours an inky purple, with aromas of plums and red and black berries. Delivers an intense wallop of rich berry fruit on the entrance. Finishes strong and smooth with root spices and a hint of earthiness. The tannins are enrobed in rich, creamy fruit, and add a lingering silkiness to the wine. Fabulous concentration for a wine of this price!"

Wired For Wine:  The Gran Reserva is just a knock-out, full-bodied red wine from Argentina and was a big hit the first time we offered it.  The full body of this Agua de Piedra stands up beautifully to big meat dishes.  Beef, lamb and steak are the top choices.  Grill the steak, and pick your favorite cooking method for the others.  Many of us have quite a chill in the air, so roasting, braising or stewing a beef or lamb entree is a great option.  Sausage, by itself , or on a pizza is another delicious choice for this versatile wine.  On the lighter, meat-free side, putting a glass of the Agua de Piedra next to a mushroom pizza will not disappoint either.  I didn't expect to offer a second wine today, so am mixing business with pleasure and enjoying a glass of the Gran Riserva as I'm writing this.  Silky is right.  It's spaghetti and giant meatballs for dinner around here...  Suculento!
